An Old Favourite: MAC Studio Fix Foundation

mac studio fix fluid review

I feel like most of my posts so far have been about foundations, but when you think about it as they are the base of your face they can be very important to get right! I have tried so many foundations from so many brands and this one from MAC is one I always go back to. With a huge shade range and cool and warm tones I find that it's really easy to find what a shade to suit you.
This foundation is also extremely long-wearing on oily skin, I remember when I worked in a cinema and I would sometimes do a 10/12 hour shift I would come home and my foundation would not have even budged and still matte which can be a god send when you have oily skin!
I personally like to apply it using a slightly damp beauty blender (I cringe at how I ever used to apply foundation with my fingers years ago!) as it gives a flawless finish and blends easily into the skin.

It has an SPF of 15 which unfortunately means that it will give you a flashback in photos (see my last post) but means it's amazing for day wear as it will give you some extra protection from the elements.

Have you tried this foundation too? what did you think?

Foundations Without Flashback

Have you ever had a photo taken of you with the flash on, looked back at it and thought I swear I'm not THAT white in real life?

It's happened to me so much, it's especially worse when you've fake tanned, and end up with a lovely photo of a dark neck and a white face!

The reason why this is happening is due to there being SPF or Titanium dioxide in either your foundation or powder but no worries there are lots of products you can use instead to keep away from this effect, perfect for the upcoming party season.

Favourite Makeup Products of 2015

As 2015 is quickly coming to an end (how crazy!) I thought I'd share with you my top make up products of the year, and the ones I reach for pretty much every day!

MAC Warm Neutrals Palette
Since receiving this for my birthday in April, it has become such a staple product in my everyday make up application. It contains 15 warm eyeshadows which are highly pigmented and there's so many looks you can create that will take you from day to night. Even if you are feeling lazy you can use a matte colour in the crease then a glittery colour on the inner corner and you are good to go!

TheBalm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter
This is one of the most popular products of this year with the cutest packaging ever (Even my dad approves!) It's a gorgeous shimmery highlighter with gold & silver reflects so looks lovely on all skin tones! It looks amazing for day or night and comes with a handy mirror so you can pop in your handbag and glow allllll day!

Maybelline Babylips Dr Rescue
This lip balm is by far my favourite ever! It has a lovely mint scent to it and keeps my lips nice and moisturised rather than just drying them out (- looking at you vaseline). Aside from this flavour there are so many others to try out too, I wouldn't leave the house without mine now!

Dior Lip Maximizer
With the whole full lips look so big right now a decent lip gloss is a staple item in your make up wardrobe and this one maximises at the same time! I like to layer this over any lipstick as it's a clear gloss and after a couple of minutes you will start to feel a tingle (it creates a slight allergic reaction in order to to create more fullness) and then your lips will be pouty-perfect!

MAC Soar Lip Liner
I have somehow managed to go through one of these this year already, a beautifully bendable product to use on it's own all over the lips or to add a contouring effect to your lips. Soar is a deep pink colour but looks great with everything from a nude to a brown lipstick colour!

MAC 217 Blending Brush
This has changed the way I do my eye makeup this year, the best blending brush by far. I have nothing else to say except you neeeed this!

L'Oreal True Match Foundation Review

If you're into makeup then I'm sure at some point you will have come across this foundation! It was one of my favourites a few years ago and when I was out shopping recently I saw that they had reformulated it!

Loreal True Match Foundation Review Beauty Blog

The Good:

-There is a huuuge shade range, no matter your skin tone and under tone. The new formula contains 3 skin enhancers for ultimate shade matching precision, so your face will always match your neck ;)

- It has a build-able coverage, depending on whether you want a subtle glow or a flawless finish you can easily build up layers without looking cakey.

-Offers a luminous and radiant finish, if you like a matte face then this isn't for you but if you are after something with a glow, it's perfect.

-The price, it's only £10 in Boots at the moment!

The Bad:

- If you are after long-wearing then you will NEED a primer. I have found that even though my skin is quite dry at the moment it still has the tendency to start rolling off my face without primer by lunch time.

-I have also found it does cling to dry patches a little

Overall I have found that this foundation is perfect for me in the summer, as far as my winter skin goes I tend to prefer a more matte finish personally. I will always have a back up of this foundation in my collection as I find it's good for the everyday look when you don't want totally full coverage but also don't want to look like a zombie! If you are just starting out with make up I'd recommend it as a good starter foundation as getting the colour correct can be very difficult!
As far as 'drugstore' foundations go it's definitely up with the top but doesn't come as close as my ultimate Rimmel True Match.

Overall rating: 7/10

Tip: Stay away from the 'Rose' named coloured. My make up tutor at college would always tell us to step away from the pink tones even if your quite pink as the all over look never looks right!

Have you tried this foundation? What did you think?

The Newest Makeup Launches UK December 2015

I am currently feeling a bit sorry for myself and in bed poorly! I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks and I've been itching to get the ball rolling with posts as I have so many ideas and some lighting so I can take photos in the awful english weather now!

I was thinking of starting a series of the latest make up launches as they are some of my favourite posts to read as I just love the whole buzz when new or limited edition products are released! (is that sad?)

These are some of the most coveted products that are out right now with prices and links to buy them, just in time for you to add them to your Christmas wishlist ;)

Makeup Geek comes to the UK

If you have missed the buzz about these eyeshadows then you have missed out! It was so typical that I finally bit the bullet and ordered a few from the american website and in the same week they got released on Beauty Bay. I believe they are still slightly cheaper if you order from the american site, but you must stick to the rule of only ordering three at a time to escape the scary customs charges.
At the time of me writing this they are totally sold out of the website so I can't check the prices but they range from about £6-£10.

When they are back in stock, you can purchase them here.

Kylie Jenner Lip Kits

Again another product that has sold out but she has promised that there will be more released before Christmas. The ultimate lip queen, isn't it crazy how she has managed to turn getting lip fillers into a whole business. The kardashians are very clever at doing that!
The colours are muted nude hues just like she likes to wear and contain a matte lipstick and a liner. Can you imagine having your own make up line at 18 years old, dreamy.

Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

As a 90's girl who doesn't like Gwen Stefani? Instantly gets Hollaback Girl in my head, I remember making up dance routines to that whole album! This eyeshadow palette consists of mainly brown/nude shades with a splash of colour which makes it an amazing one for travelling as it is so versatile!

It is currently in stock at Debenhams for £40

MAC X Ellie Goulding

Okay I am suuuuper excited about this one, after not managing to get my hands on any of the Cinderella collection I am ready for this one. I feel like it speaks for itself (look at those palettes!) I am definitely eyeing them up! Launches on the 14th December!
